The deputies expressed their concern that the lack of protective equipment for health personnel and the centralization of molecular tests (PCR) persists, as well as the wrong policy of flexibilization and hospitalization of asymptomatic patients.
In the debate on the subject in the ordinary session on August 4, the president of the National Academy of Medicine, Enrique López Loyo. The health professional questions that the diagnostic capacity of the virus is supported by rapid tests that, on average, give 35% error, with both false positives and negatives.
He argues that they should be taking place 8,000 to 10,000 daily PCR tests in the country to have good control of the pandemic. Before the parliamentarians and through Zoom, he made a series of recommendations to adequately address the incidence of the virus.

It also alerts that the lack of protective equipment for health personnel leads the country to have the highest number of deaths in Latin America (41 cases for a rate of 22%). Among the measures to lower the incidence, it recommends giving work and rest licenses for health personnel over 60 and pregnant women.
He indicates that the provision of equipment, supplies and medicines to attend to patients with coronavirus in the hospital system is urgent. It also recommends that patients who are asymptomatic or with mild symptoms be treated from their homes and reserve hospital capacity only for severe cases.
“Flexibility must be associated with a decrease in cases,” he warns.
The country reached 20,754 cases and 180 deceased until August 3 due to the SARS-CoV-2 virus, according to official reports.
“Improvised behaviors”
The deputy José Manuel Olivares ratified this Tuesday that the number of deceased by COVID-19 in the country is 349 and not the number reported by the Nicolás Maduro government. Again he said that the figure is the result of monitoring the health system through medical records.
He reiterates that 50% of emergencies in the hospital system are at their maximum capacity, as well as 63% of intensive care beds.
