8-year-old girl gets vaccinated and honors her mother. “She didn’t have that chance”

Little Helena Rocha, 8 years old, became news last Wednesday when she went to get vaccinated at a health center in the Federal District of Brasilia. The little girl carried a sign that read: “I am vaccinated for myself and for my mother, who did not have the opportunity to be vaccinated”

Mayara Rocha, Helena’s mother, died last October at the age of 33 and due to covid. She was hospitalized for 77 days, but despite the efforts of the doctors, the sad outcome could not be avoided.

“It is an honor for me to be able to pay this tribute to my mother. I got vaccinated today and that everyone gets vaccinated, because this vaccine is very important to preserve lives, “said the girl in statements to the portal G1.

Ailton Fonseca, the girl’s grandfather, said that the poster, in addition to honoring his daughter, aims to encourage people to receive the immunizing agent.

“My daughter was not so lucky to get the vaccine. He gave him covid five days before the vaccine was enabled for his age group. This disease is no joke and the vaccine can save lives,” he said.
