It should be an exciting quarter-final hit. Instead, viewers got to see one-way street football on Friday evening. The class difference between Bayern and Barcelona was too big.

A humiliation for the proud FC Barcelona, a show of power by FC Bayern Munich: The Champions League quarter-finals between Bayern and Barca turned into a one-sided story. Outstanding Bayern outclassed weak Spaniards 8-2.
The Bavarians underlined their ambitions for the 6th win of the handle pot. Barca had never before conceded 8 goals in Europe.
Müller ensures early leadership
There was nothing to be seen of the usual tactics in a knockout game in the almost deserted Estádio da Luz in Lisbon. Müller scored in his 113th outing, which made him the top German record player, after a nice one-two with Lewandowski in the 4th minute, the early lead.

But then came Barcelona first. On the left side, Jordi Alba forced Alaba to an unsuccessful rescue act in front of the bullet-ready Luis Suárez (7th minute). A short time later, Suarez failed to Manuel Neuer, after 10 minutes a Messi cross hit the far post. After that, Bayern had the game completely under control.
In the 22nd minute, Bayern’s Serge Gnabry, whose speed and aggressiveness kept causing danger, captured the ball and passed it on to Ivan Perisic. Instead of the cross, the Croat opted for a strong shot, which Barca’s German national goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen was unable to deflect decisively.
Then it happened in quick succession: First Gnabry with his seventh premier class goal of the current season after a lob from the very present Goretzka and then again Müller ensured the 4-1 break.

In the 57th minute, Suarez was able to score the next goal to make it 2: 4, but there was no longer any tension – the Munich team were too strong and too dominant.
Coutinho also hits twice
Joshua Kimmich (63rd), Robert Lewandowski (82nd) with his 14th premier class goal this season and Barça loan from Philippe Coutinho (85th and 89th) followed suit and ensured a historic Bayern victory.

In the semifinals, Bayern will meet Manchester City with ex-coach Pep Guardiola or Olympique Lyon next Wednesday at the final tournament in Lisbon. These two teams will play against each other on Saturday.
Paris and RB Leipzig will compete in the second semi-final on Tuesday. The final will take place on August 23 at the Estádio da Luz in Lisbon.
