SAMARINDA – Members of the DPRD Kota Samarinda, East Kalimantan (Kaltim) asked the Samarinda Health Office to act quickly to deal with the spread of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF). Currently, there are 75 residents who have contracted the dengue fever.
“In this month alone, 75 Samarinda residents have contracted the disease caused by the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, so I ask the Health Office to act quickly to deal with it,” said Member of Commission IV of the East Kalimantan DPRD, Ahmat Sopian Noor, in Samarinda, Antara, Thursday, January 27.
Intensive prevention is immediately carried out, don’t wait for any fatalities. For example, continued Ahmat, intensively providing education to the public about the importance of carrying out the 3M Plus movement.
3M Plus is draining water reservoirs, closing water reservoirs, burying used items, then avoiding mosquito bites by sleeping using mosquito nets, and lighting or smearing the skin with mosquito repellent.
Then distribute abate to the community to be spread into baths or water reservoirs in households so that mosquito larvae die, in addition to reminding residents to diligently drain the bath.
“What is also needed now is fogging in areas where dengue patients have been detected, because in that area there could be a lot of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes,” he said.
In carrying out the spraying, he continued, so that the Health Office’s burden is not heavy, it can involve several parties such as the sub-district head, village head, LPM, volunteers, and other parties, as he had implemented last week.

Last Sunday, he and various parties carried out spraying in a number of villages in the North Samarinda and Sungai Pinang sub-districts, including the Sempaja Timur, Sungai Pinang Dalam, Mugirejo, and Gunung Lingai sub-districts.
“After the spraying last Sunday, it turns out that there are many more people who want their area to be fumigated, both at the RT and kelurahan scale, such as in Samarinda Kota, Samarinda Ilir, Sambutan, Samarinda Seberang, Samarinda Ulu, and Sungai Pinang Dalam villages,” he said.
He also thanked all parties who assisted in the spraying last Sunday, both those who helped lend fogging equipment and materials, helped with food, drinks, and energy so that the DHF Care program could be carried out.
