During the last day, from Sunday midnight to Monday, border guards did not allow 75 migrants from Belarus to enter the restricted areas. There were 108 such admissions on Saturday, 45 on Friday, 29 on Thursday, 55 on Wednesday, 9 on Tuesday and 18 on Monday.
No foreigners were allowed into Lithuania on humanitarian grounds on Sunday.
On Sunday, Kaunas territorial customs officers, in cooperation with the border guards of the Varėna team of the SBGS, stopped two cars driving to Poland to check in Lazdijai district. They were driven by Ukrainian citizens. They transported 10 people suspected of being Iraqi nationals. A pre-trial investigation has been launched into the Varėna team of the SBGS regarding the illegal transportation of people across the state border. Border guards detained Ukrainian citizens. Iraqis spent the night on Monday at the Calvary firewall. In the morning, their interrogations continued, explaining how these foreigners entered Lithuania.
On Sunday, the border guards of the Varėna national team started another such pre-trial investigation, when two foreigners driving cars were detained at the border within the boundaries of Druskininkai municipality. These are citizens of Ukraine and Belarus. According to the SBGS, the purpose of their arrival was to pick up migrants who had to cross the border illegally here, which was not hidden by the foreigners themselves. Ukrainians and Belarusians close in custody.
Since the beginning of August, when border guards acquired the right to refuse entry to foreigners from Belarus, 7653 have not entered Lithuania (midnight from Sunday to Monday).
Lithuanian border guards and soldiers assisting them professionally during the migrant crisis lost their service weapons at the border last day.
Border control on the Lithuanian side is intensified.
