71% of Agrobanco clients received a loan for the first time

ERP. In the first quarter of 2021, of the 15,180 small agricultural producers that were served by Agrobanco, 71% obtained a loan for the first time, with an average amount of S / 7,247. These results show that the State financial institution has been fulfilling its subsidiary and social inclusion role, inserting farmers who are currently not served by commercial banks into the financial market.

Between January and March of this year, Banco Agropecuario disbursed S / 78 million in loans to small farmers who did not have a credit history, thus promoting their financial inclusion. It should be noted that of the 10,767 small producers recently banked by Agrobanco, 86% obtained their loan with resources from the Agroperú Fund of the Ministry of Agrarian Development (Midagri).

“At Agrobanco, in coordination with Midagri, we mobilize the communities of small farmers to provide them with credit according to their needs and ability to pay, that is, we reach rural areas where commercial banks do not serve. This credit opportunity will allow the farmer to be a credit subject, thus becoming an attractive client for the financial system.”Said the president of the Agrobanco board of directors, César Quispe Luján.

From January to March 2021, 78% of small agricultural producers that were inserted into the financial system applied for a loan to boost their agricultural season, while the remaining 22% for their livestock season. During the same period, the regions with the highest percentage of new bank customers were: Loreto (89%), Madre de Dios (88.2%), Huancavelica (88.2%), Ucayali (87.8%), Arequipa (81.4%), Huánuco (81.4%), San Martín (78.9%), Pasco (75.1%), Cusco (75%) and Puno (72.7%).
