7 patients and 4 positive operators in Internal Medicine of the Valdichiana hospital. The ward was closed and the other 14 negative patients quarantined. The results of the swab sequencing performed on the first case are pending to verify the presence of a variant.
Tomorrow morning the control swabs will be carried out on the 14 patients remaining in medicine at Fratta and as soon as the results are available, the progressive transfer of the patients to be kept in quarantine will be activated in the already isolated department of Geriatrics of San Donato. This will create a single quarantine ward within this hospital with around 30 patients.
The Medicina della Fratta department will be converted into Covid intermediate care with a total of 26 beds. Presumably, considering the transfer times of patients to Arezzo, the new Covid della Fratta intermediate care area will be activated on Friday.
The permanence of the additional Covid intermediate care ward in place of internal medicine will be closely linked to the epidemiological trend: the medical ward will reopen as soon as the need for Covid beds is reduced.
