Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Aerobic exercise is a term for physical exercise that involves oxygen to meet energy needs while moving. A number of sports can be categorized as aerobic exercise such as swimming, running, cycling and gymnastics.
Various movements in cardio training will stimulate the heart rate and increase the respiratory rate.
Cardio training has a number of levels, namely low, moderate and high intensity. The faster and more strenuous the exercise, the higher the intensity of the exercise, and the more oxygen is needed.
Aerobic movements that activate muscles throughout the body and involve high oxygen levels provide many benefits to the organs of the body.
Here are the benefits of aerobic or cardio exercise.
1. Lose weight
Intense movement in aerobics can burn calories effectively so you can lose weight, especially when combined with a good diet.
20 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic movement can burn about 100-200 calories. Running or cycling for 30 minutes can also use up about 200-400 calories.

2. Improve heart health
Cardio is closely related to the heart because it makes the heart pump blood faster. This condition is good for heart health because it can increase blood flow throughout the body and keep arteries healthy.
3. Lowering blood pressure
Aerobic exercise can help lower blood pressure. When doing aerobic activity, blood vessels will tend to dilate to carry oxygen throughout the body so that blood pressure decreases.
4. Increase immunity
Cardio exercise improves the strength and immunity of the body so that it can prevent various diseases due to exposure to viruses and bacteria.
5. Improve mood
Quoted from Mayo Clinic, when doing aerobic activity, the body releases endorphins which can improve mood. This hormone also relieves pain and relaxes the body thereby enhancing mood and improving sleep quality.
6. Detoxify the body
Cardio involves a high amount of oxygen. This oxygen will be sent throughout the body and return to carry waste products such as carbon dioxide and lactic acid which are toxic and not needed by the body.
7. Improve brain health
Every adult is recommended to do aerobic exercise as well as strength training 30-60 minutes every day five times a week or a total of 150 minutes per week. Do sports within your means to prevent the risk of fatigue and injury.
