“Armenia and Azerbaijan on Tuesday agreed to a ceasefire on their borders,” the Armenian Ministry of Defense said.
The truce came into effect after Russia urged the two sides to withdraw from a confrontation that became the deadliest clash since last year’s war.

Armenia said several of its soldiers were killed and two combat positions were missing.

Last year, more than 6,000 lives were lost in the war over the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region.

Azerbaijani troops, backed by Turkey, managed to recapture most of the territory that is internationally considered part of Azerbaijan.
In the latest clashes on Tuesday (16/11/2021), Armenia asked Russia, to help defend its territorial sovereignty over Azerbaijan.
Russia is Armenia’s main security ally with long ties to the former Soviet republic.
