This Thursday, March 4, the sixth vaccination center, at the Agen Congress Center, opened its doors. Only the Moderna vaccine will be issued. The contenders for the vaccine have sometimes come a long way.

350 doses per week are planned for this new center. For the first day, this Thursday, March 4, 60 appointments were made. The Moderna vaccine is issued for people over 75 years of age and people at risk (cancer, people on dialysis, suffering from chronic kidney disease, etc.).

An opening that was expected for people wanting to be vaccinated. The numbers speak for themselves. Appointments, which only go through Doctolib, were possible the day before the opening, i.e. Wednesday March 3 at 2 p.m. And already the calendar is full until half of the month.

More than 2 hours of driving

Patients can book appointments from anywhere. Like this Girondin, almost 70 years old, and his wife in a wheelchair. From Créon, in Gironde, they hoped to find an available niche near their home. “My attending physician did not find anything in La Réole or Langon, it is a social worker who, yesterday, managed to make an appointment for us in Agen.” For the couple, that means having to drive more than 2 hours. “It’s not normal”, concludes the septuagenarian.

From January and the opening to vaccination, this possibility was offered on Doctolib. This did not fail to pose a problem, especially in densely populated areas such as the Paris region where, especially at the start of reservations, it was “first come, first served”.

Today, six vaccination centers are open in Lot-et-Garonne (Agen Nérac Hospital, Esquirol Clinic, and Congress Center in Agen, Intercommunal Hospital Center and Congress Center in Marmande, Villeneuvois Health Center). The objective declared by the Regional Health Agency was to mesh the territory as closely as possible. Throughout France, 700 centers were planned.
