60 million views for waxing hairdresser Renaz from Boxmeer

The hairdressing trade runs in the family, all his brothers are also hairdressers. The 25-year-old Renaz Ismael has been cutting hair herself for ten years. Five years ago he fled from Syria to the Netherlands and since three months he has his own business in Boxmeer: Kapsalon Freedom.

The videos he recently posted to TikTok are all viewed hundreds of thousands of times, with the resin video being the absolute highlight. “I expected a million, but not that we now have 60 million viewers.”

Eyebrows

It is therefore a remarkable sight. The client’s face is smeared with resin and cotton buds protrude from the nose. “Everyone expects the eyebrows to go off too, but there was paper on it,” laughs Renaz. “Furthermore, all hairs from the face and his neck go along. Also the nose hairs, but not all, because that is not healthy.”

Waxing the hair in the nose or ears in this way is quite common, according to Renaz. “But not the whole face, I had never seen anyone do that,” says the hairdresser. He invented the technique himself and decided to put it on TikTok. “I think so many people look at it because they have never seen it with other hairdressers.”

Painful

Getting the wax off is quite a painful sight. “It hurts, but you need to know what you’re doing. I’ve been doing this job for so long, I’ve been doing it every day. When I do it right, it doesn’t hurt that much.”

It won’t stop customers anyway, because since the video came online, many people are asking for the treatment. “Yesterday someone came and said: put on my whole face.”

Seven days a week

Renaz can’t really choose between cutting or waxing, he likes to do both. “Waxing is great fun, I also have plans for new videos. Cutting children is also great fun, many children want to be cut at my place. And older people! I like making people happy, you become happy when your customers are satisfied to be.”

He therefore enjoys working seven days a week. “I can work 24/7”, he laughs. And what more videos can we expect on TikTok? “That will be a surprise. It will be very difficult!”
