There was a shooting in the suburbs of Chicago during the parade on the Independence Day of the United States.

Because of this, 6 people died and 20 were injured. The assailant managed to escape and the police are looking for him.

According to eyewitnesses, the attacker is 18-20 years old. During the parade, he opened fire on people from the roof of the building. A firearm was found at the scene of the incident, and police are looking for the attacker.

As noted BBC, the parade in Highland Park was stopped about ten minutes after it began, when several shots were fired. Eyewitnesses say they heard 20 to 25 shots. The celebration in the city was canceled, the mayor asked people not to leave their homes.

The media noted that 26 people were injured, some of them suffered due to the stampede and panic after the shooting.
