50 years of the Heilig Blut day care center: the anniversary will be celebrated in autumn

Dinslaken.
Kita Heilig Blut in the Hagen district has existed for 50 years. Due to the corona, the anniversary should be celebrated in autumn. The start was on March 21, 1971.

The day care center Heilig Blut on Hagenstrasse is actually celebrating its 50th anniversary this year – but Corona currently does not allow any celebrations. Jörg Schmitz, head of the day care centers in the cath. Church parish St. Vincentius Dinslaken and former kindergarten child of Heilig Blut, looks proudly on the anniversary and reminds “of a constant, but constantly developing, educational institution in the beautiful Hagen district”.

The story of the daycare center began on August 24, 1969, when a little boy was digging the earth with his spade for the construction of the “Heilig Blut” kindergarten. Under the sponsorship of the then independent Catholic parish Heilig Blut and the pastor Heinrich Küsters, construction work began on a three-group kindergarten.

March 21, 1971 the kindergarten at Matthias-Claudius-Straße 12 was handed over to the educational staff and the children, under the direction of Maria Schleyken at the time. Children from three to six years of age were looked after. The outside area was like an adventure playground. A paradise for children that was unparalleled. The kindergarten became an important part of the congregation through many joint activities, festivals and a good religious educational concept – with the pastor as a neighbor. Happy togetherness with the whole community, the constant openness to change and innovative ideas in the educational concepts were the basis for 50 years of the Heilig Blut Kita.

Groundbreaking ceremony for the new building on March 21, 2011

In June 2009 the Church of the Holy Blood was demolished. The new building of the Heilig Blut day care center with an adjoining community center was built on the site. With the 40th anniversary, daycare children broke ground on March 21, 2011 for the new construction of the day-care center and the community center at Hagenstrasse 14 – a great sign of appreciation for Pastor Theo van Doornick and the whole community.

Under the courageous and committed influence of the educational team and the then director Birgit Völkner, a colorful day care center was created. The completion and the festive move to the new four-group facility on June 21, 2012 was accompanied by Pastor Gregor Kauling. The old kindergarten was soon torn down to create new living space.

Almost 90 children between the ages of two and six attend the new daycare center. Since then, the children have been playing in very friendly, bright rooms. Furthermore, many functional rooms await children who are keen to discover and experiment. As a pastoral advisor, Petra Roth accompanies the children, the team and the families in the religious educational, elementary faith experiences, at the festivals in the church year and in the regular kindergarten and family services. Proven traditions are still alive today in the day care center. City builder Vahnenbruck, for example, has been coming to the children on the Friday before Palm Sunday for many years and brings a newborn lamb with him: a sign of new life and an unforgettable experience for the children.

Certified “literature daycare” since 2015

Since the summer of 2015, the daycare center has also been allowed to call itself the “certified literature daycare” of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Regular storytelling and reading weeks, visits to the library, a visit from reading grandpa Jörg and the nationwide reading day are fixed dates in the daycare year. The carrier (the Catholic parish of St. Vincentius) under the direction of Pastor Barthel Kalscheur; the group leader of the five daycare centers in St. Vincentius, Jörg Schmitz, the daycare management Annika Miemert and her deputy Theresa Friederici with their educational team and the parents’ council would have liked to have invited to the anniversary and celebrated with the community, the alumni, friends and families. Unfortunately, the current situation does not allow this to be done adequately.

“We would like to continue to look ahead positively and are carefully planning a festival that is scheduled for early autumn this year,” said Jörg Schmitz. He says “Thank you very much” to everyone who has contributed to the construction, renovation and further development of the daycare center over the past 50 years.
