50 years dancing to the rhythm of New York

How to celebrate half a century of life? The Ballet Hipánico from New York will do it dancing. And for this, his talented ensemble rehearses – without rest – the choreographies of the different pieces that will make up the presentation, which this year will be done virtually.

Eduardo Vilaro, artistic director and CEO of the Ballet Hispánico, comments on the matter: “This is part of our celebration, our gala. Which opens on May 28, at 6:30 pm in ballethispanico.org It is our celebration of 50 years of pride, dance, education and it is going to be phenomenal. “

The creative process requires a collective effort between dancers, choreographers and, of course, the artistic director of the Hispanic Ballet. And one of the objectives of this 50-year celebration is for the gala to serve as a recognition of the work that this dance association has carried out throughout the country. Hence, the preparations are intense, as reaching perfection is not an easy task.

“In 1970 we did not have a space, a place, for Latin dancers; but now we do. So, this celebration gives us the opportunity to show this pride and the importance of this organization,” explains Vilaro.

In its celebration of 50 years, Ballet Hispánico will premiere the works of three choreographers and will also feature pieces by renowned names from the world of dance such as Ann Reinking and the Argentine, Graciela Daniele.

“Here we are used to giving the community functions even in the street. Because our community knows what it is to party and celebrate with a lot of love,” said its artistic director.

During the fiftieth celebration of the Hispanic Ballet, several celebrities will be present, including Lin-Manuel Miranda and the actress, Rosie Pérez. And if you can’t watch the live broadcast, the gala will be available for two weeks on digital platforms.
