PORTRAIT – At 23 years old, this young woman of a meter 78 and emeritus rider hopes to bring back, in Nord-Pas-de-Calais, a fourth crown of Miss France.
Laura Cornillot is not used to beauty contests. In love with nature and wide open spaces, she prefers to ride a horse rather than spending hours on makeup. However, she lives her Miss France adventure to the full by preparing carefully in order to put all the chances on her side to win the competition on December 19.

A second chance
“I have always watched the Miss France election but participating in it has never been a little girl’s dream for me. I registered on a whim for the election of Miss Lille in 2016 and I got caught up in the game. That year, I was elected Miss Lille and I participated in the regional election without success. to classify me. I told myself that my path ended there and I preferred to devote myself to my studies. This year, I am 24 years old so this was my last opportunity to introduce myself. Because of the Covid-19, there was a lack of female candidates to participate in the regional election so I decided to try my luck again so as not to have any regrets. ”
Le body positive
“In my opinion, Miss France symbolizes women, it is a guarantee of excellence and emancipation. If I am elected, I want to highlight the current of body positive and the acceptance of his body because I have lived it. For years, I struggled to find myself in the candidates who entered the Miss France pageant but, when I saw Vaimalama Chaves win the crown, I totally identified with her. I would like to continue what she initiated so that the little girls and young women who cannot find themselves in the competition can identify with me. ”

A devouring passion for horseback riding
“I think I didn’t know how to walk yet as I was already on a pony! My mom is a horse rider and it is she who transmitted her passion to me. I competed when I was young but I never liked it too much. So I focus exclusively on outdoor walks, that’s where I feel the best. I am lucky to have my horse at home. I got it when I was four, it’s like my little brother. His name is Coral and is therefore twenty years old. He lost an eye a few years ago. As I do a lot of walks, there are things he can’t see so I pay more attention to him and he knows he can trust me. We have a rather special connection. He’s a landmark for me because I’ve always had him and I feel good with him. I love horseback riding so much that I would like to combine my passion with my work. I did four years of studies in tourism and now I am in the last year of a master’s degree in communication and digital marketing. Later, I would like to open a travel agency specializing in equestrian tourism. ”
Animal defense
“The animal cause particularly touches me. If I am elected Miss France, it is the one I would like to defend. Since I was little, I have been surrounded by animals. There have always been some at home and they are full members of my family. I grew up with them and I cannot imagine that anyone can harm them. Today I have a cat, a rabbit and a horse, but before that I also had dogs and a lot of cats. ”
A great preparation
“I am a very simple and natural person. I think that, in this kind of competition, you have to know how to keep your feet on the ground. In life, I am not very feminine, so everything related to heels and makeup, I am learning! My committee allowed me to have lessons in makeup and gait. I also had sophrology classes which help me concentrate. As I am naturally stressed, I am learning to manage my stress. I do sports, horse riding of course, but also walking, running and electrostimulation. ”
