– Japanese Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare Tamura Norihisa held a press conference on the night of the 25th and revealed that five people who recently returned from the UK were found to be infected with the corona19 variant. This is the first time that a person infected with Corona 19 has been confirmed in Japan.
According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, five people infected with coronavirus were men and women between the ages of 10 and 60, two of them entered Japan through Haneda Airport and three through Kansai Airport on the 21st.
They were tested positive in the corona 19 test at the airport quarantine station, and the National Institute of Infectious Diseases in Japan analyzed their samples to confirm that they were infected with the coronavirus strain. Four of the infected are asymptomatic, and one complains of boredom, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare reported.
Japanese health authorities are quarantining all five infected people and investigating the route of infection and whether they are in close contact.
One corona infection was confirmed in Lebanon on that day. Lebanese Health Minister Hamana Hassan said on a Twitter that “a case of a variant corona infection was reported on a flight departing from London on the 21st to Lebanon.” Minister Hassan requested that passengers on the same plane as the confirmed patient undergo corona 19 diagnostic tests and take quarantine measures.
To date, the countries with COVID-19 infections from the UK are the Netherlands, Denmark, France, Italy, Singapore, Germany, and Hong Kong.
The British government announced that the corona strain, which appears to have first appeared in London and Kent in mid-September, is rapidly spreading. It is known that the variant coronavirus is 56-70% stronger than the existing virus.
Experts estimate that mutations occur in the spike protein on the surface of the Corona 19 virus, making it easier to penetrate the human body.
Concerned about the spread of the coronavirus variant from the UK, countries around the world have stepped up restrictions on entry into the UK. The Japanese government has also temporarily suspended entry for foreigners coming from the UK after the 24th.
