More women in management positions / “New Work and New Normal” / Opportunities and challenges in the digitized world of work
The proportion of women on the executive boards of German listed companies increased in the summer of 2021 according to the new law for more women in management positions, but is still only around 14 percent on average. This means that women are still significantly underrepresented in decision-making functions, despite excellent qualifications.
The economy and work are changing significantly: due to the crisis as well as demographic change and digitization. Social changes and entrepreneurial activity mutually influence each other.
“The city of Frankfurt has been organizing Business Women’s Day since 2012 to discuss access to management levels with women. Women must finally be given fair access to management. This is not just an imperative of justice; Mixed management teams also make companies more successful. For example, with the Frankfurt Academy of Mixed Leadership at the University of Applied Sciences, we are setting standards for cultural change in companies,” explains Rosemarie Heilig, head of the women’s department.
Women continue to motivate to aspire to leadership positions
Head of Economic Affairs Stephanie Wüst is taking part in the Frankfurt Business Women’s Day for the first time and is convinced: “The Business Women’s Day should continue to motivate women to strive for management positions. Due to their high level of education, women represent enormous potential for specialist and managerial positions. Only every third manager is a woman. This is precisely why it is important for companies to open up career opportunities for women in order to enable them to advance to top positions.”
The Frauenreferat and the Frankfurt Economic Development Agency invite all interested parties to the Frankfurt Business Women’s Day 2022 on Thursday, June 30, from 12 p.m. to around 5 p.m. in the English Theater at Gallusanlage 7.
The event will be opened with greetings from the two heads of department, Heilig and Wüst.
Jutta Rump, Director of the Institute for Employment and Employability, Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences, will give a keynote speech on the topic “New Work and New Normal: Opportunities for women in management?!”
Jutta Rump, Anja Georgi (local public transport in Offenbach, Offenbacher Verkehrsbetriebe), Alexandra von Winning (managing director of the non-profit company Lust for better living) and Wüst, head of the economic department, will then discuss the event motto “More women in management positions – opportunities and challenges in the digitalised world of work”. The event will be moderated by Mechthild Harting, editor of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
