DENPASAR, BALIPOST.com – Health is important to maintain. Because, a healthy body besides enabling us to carry out our daily activities, of course, can save money on medical expenses.

Not only COVID-19, as the pandemic progresses, we also need to be aware of these 5 diseases:

1. Acute Hepatitis in Children

Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver or liver. Caused by various things, ranging from viruses, consuming alcohol, using certain drugs, autoimmune diseases and even heartworms. Quoted from the Alodokter website, hepatitis sufferers usually don’t feel symptoms until a few weeks or liver function disorders have occurred.

In patients with hepatitis due to viral infection, symptoms will appear after the incubation period, which is around 2 weeks to 6 months.

Common symptoms that appear in people with hepatitis are nausea and vomiting, fever, fatigue, pale stools, dark urine, abdominal pain, joint pain, loss of appetite, and weight loss.

Acute hepatitis is also detected in Indonesia. The disease, which started to stir up in May 2022, caused fear among parents. After all, children are the main victims.

Until now it is not known exactly what causes this mysterious acute hepatitis. However, many also suspect that this disease is closely related to Covid-19.

2. Acute Kidney Failure

Acute kidney failure or acute kidney injury is a condition when the kidneys stop functioning suddenly. This condition can occur due to impaired blood flow to the kidneys, disorders in the kidneys, or blockages in the urinary tract. Acute kidney failure must be treated immediately to prevent permanent kidney damage.

The causes of acute kidney failure are very diverse, ranging from impaired blood flow to the kidneys (prerenal), damage to the kidneys themselves, to blockages in the flow of urine (postrenal).

Acute kidney failure also suddenly appears and affects many children aged 6 months to 18 years in Indonesia. After being traced, it was confirmed that the culprits were ethylene glycol and diethylene glycol which were found in the syrup. Many manufacturers of children’s syrup have withdrawn their production to ensure the safety of medicines sold to children.

Currently, the case has been handled. There were no more cases of acute kidney failure in children. But even so you should not be complacent because this disease can certainly strike at any time apart from the drugs that cause it.

3. Impact of Climate Change

The current climate change in Indonesia has an impact on increasing the spread or incidence of diseases such as vector-borne (DHF and Malaria), air-borne (pneumonia), water-borne (diarrhoea), and other climate-sensitive diseases in the population.

Polio is not a new disease. However, this disease has long disappeared from Indonesia since vaccinations and immunizations were intensively carried out. Nevertheless it needs to be a concern, especially for parents. So, if there is something odd about his baby, he can immediately be taken to the hospital for further treatment.
