5 Amazing Science Facts in the Quran

Jakarta

Fact science about the universe is already listed in Al Quran. This can be seen from the content in the form of information or other evidence that corroborates its truth.

There are so many knowledge and wisdom in the Al Quran, but until now it has not been fully revealed. Here are some scientific facts found in the Koran, summarized from various sources, Saturday (24/4/2021):

1. The origin of life

The fact that living things are composed mostly of water became known only after the discovery of the microscope. This knowledge has been described in the Quran for hundreds of years.

Water is essential for all living things, however Al Quran made a very unusual statement in surah Al Anbiya verse 30.

“We made all living things out of water. Will they not believe?” (Surat al -Anbiya: 30).

In this verse, it is stated that water is the origin of all life. All living things are made of cells, and cells are mostly water.

2. Iron is sent down to Earth

Iron is not a natural thing for Earth and did not form here, but instead came down to Earth from outer space. It may sound strange, but scientifically it is true.

Scientists say, billions of years ago the Earth was trapped by a meteorite. This meteorite carries iron from a distant exploding star. Al Quran explains about the origin of iron in surah Al Hadid verse 25.

“And We created iron which has strength, greatness and many benefits for mankind.” (Surat al -Hadid: 25).

This verse uses the word ‘revealed’ to refer to iron. It is clear from the verse that iron is not a worldly material, but was revealed for the benefit of mankind. The fact of iron descending to Earth from outer space is something that the primitive science of the seventh century could not know.

3. Sky Protection

The protective properties of the heavens were discovered by scientific research carried out in the 20th century. Long before, the Koran explained that the sky played an important role in protecting the Earth from the sun’s deadly rays. If the sky didn’t exist, then solar radiation would kill all life on Earth.

The sky also acts like a blanket that wraps around the Earth, to protect it from the cold of space. Al Quran showing the protection of heaven as a sign of God. This is explained in surah Al Anbiya verse 32.

“And We made the sky a protected roof, yet they turn away from the signs (of God’s greatness) (sun, moon, wind, clouds, etc.).” (Surat al -Anbiya: 32).

4. Expansion of the universe

In an age when astronomy was still primitive, the expansion of the universe was described in Al Quran surah Az-Zariyat verse 47.

“And the heaven We raised with power, and verily We have power.” (QS Az Zariyat: 47).

Physicist Stephen Hawking in his book ‘A Brief History of Time’ writes: “the discovery of an expanding universe was one of the great intellectual revolutions of the 20th century”. But the Quran describes the expansion of the universe even before the telescope was invented.

5. Mountains

The Quran shows mountains to have deep roots and the word pegs are used to describe them. In fact, mountains do have deep roots, and the word peg is an accurate description to describe them. This is stated in Surah An Naba verses 6-7.

“Have We not made the earth a stretch, and the mountains a peg?” (QS An Naba: 6-7).

The fact that mountains have deep pillars like roots was not known until the development of plate tectonic theory in the early 20th century. A book entitled ‘Earth’ by geophysicist Frank Press, explains that the mountain is like a pillar and is buried deep beneath the Earth’s surface. For example, Mount Everest, which is about nine kilometers above the ground, has deeper roots, more than 125 km.
