5 advanced civilizations of the past that have mysteriously lost

In ancient times there were several advanced civilization in various regions of the world. But some are missing mysterious. These include as quoted by detikINET from History, Friday (21/10/2022):

Maya civilization

The Mayan civilization built beautiful cities in the jungles of southern Mexico and Central America, complete with palaces, pyramid-shaped temples, and more. They are known for hieroglyphic writing, are familiar with the calendar, mathematics and astronomy.

This civilization reached its peak of influence from about 250 to 900 AD. But at the end of that period, the people suddenly overthrew their king, left the city and disappeared. Many theories have been advanced about the demise of the Mayan civilization, from drought, from infectious diseases to community rebellions.

Indus civilization

The Indus civilization began in what is now India and Pakistan about 8,000 years ago, making it one of the earliest civilizations. In the third millennium BC its territory was vast and covered about 10% of the world population. They have a good writing and hygiene system.

In 1900 BC, the Indus people suddenly left their territory and emigrated. Initially believed to be the cause of the Aryan invasion. But in recent research, there may be severe weather disturbances causing agriculture to fail. Another factor is earthquakes or epidemics.

In what is now the United States, the Anasazi civilization built its cave dwellings in the 12th and 13th centuries, some with hundreds of rooms. But they hadn’t been there for too long. The stone city was abandoned.

The researchers found signs of cannibalism and mass killings, as well as water problems, deforestation and long drought. There may also be disputes over religion. The Anasazi Civilizations which included advanced civilization disappeared around 1300.
