955 people in the state are currently infected, four fewer than the day before. The number of deaths remained unchanged at 246. The ministry put the number of recovered cases at 8,553.
Most of the new infections were in the state capital Mainz. There, the health department counted 26 cases per 100,000 residents in the past seven days, it said. This was followed by the Neuwied district with 18 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, then the cities of Ludwigshafen and Frankenthal with 16 new infections each.
