44 years of service for the judiciary

Klaus Lang

GIESSEN – After 44 years of service in the judiciary, Klaus Lang, the chairman of the 4th Civil Chamber of the Giessen Regional Court, ends when he reaches the age limit. The President of the Regional Court, Sabine Schmidt-Nentwig, thanked Lang warmly for his many years of commitment to the Hessian judiciary and said goodbye to him with best wishes for his future.

For more than 17 years, Klaus Lang was the chairman of the 4th Civil Chamber, which is responsible in particular for construction processes at the Giessen Regional Court. “Due to the construction boom of the past few years, the number of construction processes has increased significantly”, says Klaus Lang from his practice.

However, a judgment from his judicial work with a completely different subject received national attention: in 2017, Lang sentenced the owner of a donkey that had bitten into an orange-colored McLaren to compensate for the damage caused as a result. “From a legal point of view, it was a simple case. I was a little surprised at the media spectacle myself,” Klaus Lang looks back.

Klaus Lang began his judicial work in 1988 at the Friedberg District Court. After another assignment at the district court of Nidda, he moved to the district court of Gießen, where he was appointed judge for life in 1990. Among other things, he was employed in the Chamber of Appeal for ten years before he was seconded to the Frankfurt Higher Regional Court in 2000/01. In September 2002 Lang was promoted to presiding judge at the district court. After leaving the company, Klaus Lang does not want to completely turn his back on the legal system and will work as a lawyer in the future. Photo: Giessen Regional Court
