40-year-olds were intubated at the entrance to Pirogov. Prof. Baltov: Hitting the young, don’t wait at home! (Overview)

Active people have stronger compensatory mechanisms than adults, so they get to the hospital late, her boss explained.

Double growth of infected children per month – new 1080

“40-50-year-olds come in very serious condition and are literally intubated at the entrance.” This was announced by the director of the largest emergency hospital in Bulgaria – “Pirogov”, Prof. Asen Baltov.

There is definitely a rejuvenation of the infected, he explained. We had it last week

and a 40-day-old baby has already, fortunately, been discharged, Prof. Baltov told bTV.

The most affected group at the moment is the active, young people who work and have social contacts. Unfortunately, they are the least observant of the measures – both the masks and the social distance, he commented to “24 Chasa”.

The situation was further complicated because the British version of the virus, which is currently widespread in Bulgaria, is many times more contagious. One infected person passes it on to 8-9 people.

It is in the group up to the age of 40-50 that complications are observed due to late help.

“This is because most of them have strong compensatory capabilities compared to the elderly patients who were in the previous wave. They are waiting for them to go home, they are treated according to schemes, for example given by general practitioners, and only when they do not really have the strength and see that they are in serious condition, they call an ambulance “, describes the head of” Pirogov “.

Prof. Baltov clarified that he did not call the treatment prescribed by the jeeps wrong, but that people wait until the end.

If you have symptoms, do not buy a quick antigen test from the pharmacy, but go for a test in the hospital. Let an examination and a scanner be done, insists the head of “Pirogov”.

He himself was constantly called by people with positive tests from home with the question: “What should I do?”. Coming to the hospital is his answer.

The number of people accommodated in Pirogov yesterday morning was 319, 50% of the hospital’s capacity is already set aside for coronary patients. More beds can be converted, but our capacity is not infinite, warned Prof. Baltov.

Some, however

obviously thinking

that as soon as they are

released

restaurants,

the virus is gone,

everything is allowed, he is indignant.

However, let us remember how exactly a year ago, when the first case of COVID was discovered in Pirogov, no one dared to enter for 4 days, the professor continued. “And now we are very brave, is there a drug that cures the virus ?!”, Baltov is indignant.

His explanation for the extremely high number of infected is the loosening of measures in the prevailing British version of the virus. “Colleagues from Great Britain turned out to be right that it is more difficult for young patients,” concluded Baltov.

Double growth in just one month is reported in new patients under the age of 19, according to data from the Ministry of Health, provided to “24 hours”.

There were 568 of them in January, and in February there are already 1080. Only for the first 10 days of March the new infections in this age group are 780, which reached over 2/3 of the number for the whole of February. And there are 20 days left until the end of the month.

In the currently severely affected group of people between the ages of 40 and 49, growth is also visible. From 2828 in January for a month they jumped almost twice – to 5194, and in just a few days in early March has already reached 3/4 of this value – 3753.

The numbers are similar in the group 50-59. In January the new patients are 3031, in February – 5438, and only for the first ten days of March – 3901. Despite the high growth, however, in all three groups the levels of newly diagnosed patients have not yet been reached. November – the most difficult month so far since the beginning of the epidemic in our country.

At that time, the number of newly diagnosed patients under the age of 19 was 2,491, those aged 40 to 49 – 18,538, and the patients in the group of Bulgarians between the ages of 50 and 59 – 18,912.

Sofia and 3 other cities stop students from 5th to 12th grade

Malls and gyms are closing in Blagoevgrad, in the capital is also being considered

Minister Angelov stopped the export of heparin, cases in hospitals – at November levels

Our country reports a drastic increase in the number of cases of both new infections and hospital admissions one month after the easing of the measures. The levels reached those from the end of November with 6000 in hospital. At that time, however, the percentage of severe cases among them was lower – in 6193 hospitalized on November 22 in intensive care were 408, now in 6017 in hospital (according to data from March 10) in severe condition are 497. This confirms the fear that the infection is more contagious and more severe in the third wave.

Therefore, measures are being tightened back in the most affected areas. In Sofia, Blagoevgrad, Burgas and Pleven, children from 5th to 12th grade will study online for two weeks. The students from Blagoevgrad will stay at home from today, in the capital and Burgas – from Friday, and in Pleven from March 15.

In Sofia, the present training in the universities and the centers for extracurricular activities stops for two weeks. Schools for students also stop in Burgas and Blagoevgrad.

The working hours of all establishments in the capital, Blagoevgrad and Pleven, including those in hotels, are reduced by another 1 hour – until 10 pm.

At the suggestion of the director of SRZI, Dr. Dancho Penchev, tightening of the measures is considered in case of continuing growth of the morbidity with suspension of the visits to the big shopping centers and gyms, the mayor Yordanka Fandakova announced on Facebook. According to her order, there will be intensified inspections in the capital for compliance with the measures in retail outlets, restaurants, bars and in public transport.

The incidence in Sofia is over 500 patients per 100,000 people, the average age continues to fall and is now 51. Emergency calls are increasing by 30%, Fandakova said. The Sofia headquarters recommends that employers move to work from home or in shifts where possible. The Minister of Education is proposed to postpone the dates for student competitions and Olympiads planned for March, including the spring math competitions. In kindergartens, parents can take the opportunity to apologize for their children’s absences.

Blagoevgrad closes malls, gyms, theaters, cinemas, restricts mass outdoor and indoor events. The same measures are applied in Pleven as of today, the planned admission to hospitals is stopped. In Burgas, masks in open places of public importance become mandatory.

A ban on the export of heparin and muscle relaxants used in the treatment of COVID-19 was issued by the health minister on Wednesday. The goal is for the state to have insured quantities in case of increased consumption of medicines. There is evidence of a potential shortage of two types of drugs – Enoxaparin and Nadroparin, whose consumption has increased by 404% compared to previous months.
