Careful handling of containment will not prevent deaths
The paradox of prevention is that the more it works, the more the population remains vulnerable to the disease. Here again, if a number of people get CoViD-19, there will inevitably be deaths.
We can for example look at the experience of certain countries (such as France, South Korea or Germany), which, as different as their containment measures may be, saw the number of cases go up when they relaxed these measures.
The goal of confining and deconfining is not to prevent all cases or all deaths, but to delay them as much as possible, first so as not to clog up the health system, then to have time to develop new therapeutic approaches that will hopefully decrease deaths.
