jpnn.com, YOGYAKARTA – Allegations of rape experienced by a student at the University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) are widely circulated on social media.
The news circulated after the Instagram account @dear_umycatcallers uploaded a narrative of the alleged case along with six photos including screenshots of the conversation between the alleged perpetrator and the victim.
So far the campus party UMY confirmed the allegations of sexual harassment.
The victim and the alleged perpetrator are both UMY students.
Head of Public Relations and Protocol UMY Hijriyah Oktaviani said the university is currently conducting an internal investigation to ensure the truth of the incident.
The identities of the victims and perpetrators are now held by UMY.
“We immediately took steps through the Student Ethics and Disciplinary Committee, trying to trace both the perpetrators and victims to be able to provide statements,” Hijriyah said, quoted from jogja.jpnn.com, Tuesday (4/1).
