390 euro fine after performing on the sidewalk for sick Kyano (10): “This is not possible, is it?”

Unsurprisingly, Danny is packing his equipment on Saturday when two police vans arrive. Shortly before that, he was still performing on the doorstep of the Kyano family. A remote corona concert, because Kyano had not been outside for six weeks and could use a bit of cheerfulness.

Crazy about Dutch

“My father is the driver of Kyano. He always brings him to school and has a special bond with the boy. Kyano loves Dutch songs, so my father thought it would be fun if I would sing for him.” In the past few weeks, Danny has already performed more of these kinds of short performances on people’s doorstep and was happy with it.

Together with his father and a sound engineer, he performs on the doorstep at Kyano for about half an hour. “We kept our distance. Only Kyano was outside with his mother and father and there were some neighbors watching, but they all stayed on their own driveways.”

Noise disturbance

One of the neighbors comes to Kyano’s father to complain about the noise. In turn, he says that the performance will only last half an hour. A few moments later, police officers arrive and the fine for violating the corona measures follows. Kyano’s father is fined for being considered the organizer of the event. “We were all shocked and amazed,” says Danny.

Danny has offered Kyano’s family a fundraiser. Danny no longer performs on people’s doorstep. “It is no longer fun. They are so strict. You want to do it right, but if that is not possible then it stops.”

Father William sent an email this morning to the municipality of Tilburg objecting to the fine. “I’m still waiting for a response,” he says.
