The people were present in the area around the stadium, which is completely closed to the public by the police. The group was asked to leave, but when the police later found them in the same area, they were arrested.

A small part of the group was also setting off fireworks, or had them in their possession. According to the police spokeswoman, it is “plausible” that it concerns football supporters. It is not known whether it concerns supporters of PSV or Ajax.

Due to the corona measures, the match will be played without an audience. That was the case a little over a year ago. In February, the meeting between PSV and Ajax ended in 1-1. Supporters could then come close to the stadium. Ajax player Dusan Tadic, who made the 1-1 in injury time and got into a fight with then PSV player Denzel Dumfries, was pelted while walking to the bus.

PSV and the municipality of Eindhoven now want to prevent such scenes. The side streets around the stadium are blocked with police vans, so that supporters keep their distance. People who must be in the stadium must identify themselves
