The Minister of Health announced Thursday evening a total of 38 cases identified in France, against 18 the day before. “12 new cases are linked to the patient infected in the Oise“, said Olivier Véran, in a new press point.
Several investigations “still in progress” are “likely to change this assessment”, he added during a press briefing, specifying that among the new cases detected appeared “a grouping of 12 cases” related to the two patients identified on Wednesday in the Oise.
A teacher in this department, infected with coronavirus died on Wednesday. Another resident of the Oise is hospitalized in serious condition. They both lived within a 40 kilometer triangle.

“Go back to patient 0”
According to the Minister of Health, this increase in cases is explained by the identification of people who have been in contact with the sick. “The French healthcare system was ready to face an epidemic, we are one step ahead,” said Olivier Véran.
Of the 38 cases identified, 12 patients have recovered, two have died and 24 are hospitalized, two of whom are in serious condition, hospitalized in Tenon and Compiègne, detailed Jérôme Salomon, director general of health. “The objective is to go back to patient 0, this is a heavy investigation, which will take us several days”.
