34 sanitary centers in Asturias have been disinfected to stop the spread of the coronavirus | BE Gijón | Today for Today Gijón

He Emergency services regional has made 48 disinfection actions in 34 centers social health care (including nursing homes, health centers and shelters) since last March 27. The objective of the work is to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

These actions are part of the measures proposed by the Social Action Group of the Emergency Service, created at the beginning of the crisis. Disinfections have been carried out in:

  • Gijón: El Espíritu Santo, Cimadevilla and Cabueñes residences. Also, the Montevil Gerontological Institute, the Gijón Sociosanitary Center and the headquarters of the NGO ‘No child without dinner’.
  • Oviedo: Arco Iris residence, the Cano Mata Vigil hostel, the Siervas de Jesús convent, the Menéndez Pidal youth hostel and the Sograndio youth center.
  • Aviles and region: Virgen del Coral (Salinas) and Costamar (Gozón) residences. Also the Larrañaga center and the homeless care center, both in Avilés.
  • East and cider region: Grande Covián hospital and Arriondas residences, Faustino Sobrino (Llanes), Carancos (Nava) and Comarca del Mayor (Nava).
  • South West: Carmen and Severo Ochoa hospital and Asilo San José, both in Cangas del Narcea, together with the Ibias residence.
  • Central zone: Adaro Sanatorium and La Felguera health center, both in Langreo; Food Bank of Asturias (Morcín), Sierra del Aramo (Riosa), Vital Centro (Siero), Covadonga (Siero) and Viella (Siero) residences. There has also been action at the Llanera School of Public Safety.

Through the Social Action Group of the Emergency Service also two shelters have been launched intended to serve homeless people. Management is carried out through the Red Cross and the Sepa Civil Protection department, which oversees its operation.

The daily average has been 2,713 attentions, although at the peak of the pandemic the 3,400 daily calls were exceeded. These numbers represent a remarkable increase With respect to 2019, when the registered daily average was at 1,845 calls.

The telephone lines specific commissioned on March 13 to address the queries on COVID-19 (through the numbers 984 100 400 and 900 878 232) have received in this period 22.162 calls.
