A school shooting in Izhevsk, the capital of the central Russian republic of Udmurtia, left 13 people dead, including students, and 21 injured.

Local investigative authorities have identified the culprit and are investigating whether he is linked to neo-fascist and Nazi groups.

According to TASS and Reuters on the 26th (local time), the killer of the 88th Izhevsk school was investigated as well as a local man, Artyom Kazantev (34).

He broke into a school, killed a security guard, and opened fire on students and others in classrooms.

The Russian Federal Investigation Commission said 13 people were killed in the incident, including seven students, a teacher and six security guards.

A total of 21 people were injured, including 14 students.

After the incident, the police who received a complaint were sent to the scene, but it was revealed that the perpetrator took his own life after committing the crime.

The offender wore black top and bottom when he broke into the school and also wore a balaclava (a fur hat with an open face and covering the head and neck).

In particular, a motif with a red Nazi symbol in a circle was also found on the shirt he was wearing.

It turned out that the author had prepared two guns and a large amount of bullets in advance for use in crime.

A short video released by the commission of inquiry shows the offender lying dead on the floor of a classroom littered with desks and overturned papers.

It was also discovered that he had graduated from the school where he had committed the crime.

The Kremlin said that President Vladimir Putin expressed his deepest condolences to the victims.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said: “President Putin expresses his deepest condolences to all those who have lost loved ones and children in this tragic event and wishes a speedy recovery for the wounded.”

He also announced that the culprit is believed to belong to a neo-fascist group.

After a partial mobilization order was issued for reserve forces in Russia on the 21st, tensions rose throughout society, but it is not yet known whether the shooting in the school was related to the mobilization order.

On the same day, in Ust-Ilimsk, Irkutsk, Siberia, a man entered a military mobilization center in the village and opened fire on personnel.

At that time, the head of the center sustained severe injuries in the shooting and was taken to hospital, and the perpetrator was immediately arrested on the spot.

The investigative commission is currently conducting an investigation to find out the reason for the shooting at the school.

In particular, it was found that the usual executioners were focused on being obsessed with neo-fascist ideology and neo-Nazi ideology.

The investigative commission said in a statement: “Investigators are ransacking the criminal’s home and are also investigating his personality, ideology and surrounding environment.”

Aleksandr Brechalov, head of the Udmurtya Republic, said: “Today there was a tragic accident at the 88 school in Izhevsk.

The authorities declared on the 29th a period of mourning for the victims.

First responders were dispatched to the crash site and access to School 88 and surrounding areas was restricted.

Izhevsk, where the shooting took place, is a city of about 640,000 people, located in the western part of the Ural Mountains in central Russia.

About two-thirds of Izhevsk’s residents are Russian and the rest of the population is said to be composed of various ethnic groups, including Udmurts, Tatars and Jews.

In school 88, founded in 1994, 982 students from grades 1 to 11 received an education and the number of teachers was 80.
