3 students taken hostage during clashes between HMI and PMII at UINSU

Islamic Student Association (HMI extensionlisten) and the Indonesian Islamic Student Movement (PMI II) the commissariat of the State Islamic University of North Sumatra (UINSU) clashed. The two student organizations attacked each other.

Reported detikSumatra, the attack occurred on Wednesday (11/30/2022) at around 10:30pm WIB. The incident between Cipayung members occurred due to an act of beating on an HMI member that was allegedly done by a PMII member.

One of the students with the initials M said that the clashes between groups started from fights between individual organizations a few days ago. Then it continues until the afternoon.

“Because of last night’s one-on-one duel, dozens of people (PMII) beat him this afternoon (pointing to a student who was later identified as Raja),” said the student with initials M.

Raja himself was beaten up by dozens of PMII members as he was about to enter the Sharia and Law Faculty building. Unable to accept being beaten, Raja then complained to his elders at HMI.

After that there was a fight between the groups. During the scuffle, the PMII group fled the campus. however, three PMII members failed to escape and were taken hostage by the HMI group. Percut Sei Tuan Police Chief Kompol Agustiawan visited the site and worked to mediate between the two groups.
