Factors that may cause your phone’s battery to drain quickly, turn on screen brightness to the highest level, and continuously run the geographical location, or the presence of applications running in the background all the time, unfortunately WhatsApp is one of these applications that runs in the background and consumes the battery quickly.

Here are 3 settings you should set to WhatsApp to reduce your phone’s battery consumption:

1- Stop downloading media files automatically:

By default, the WhatsApp app allows you to download a lot of media files in the background, which will drain your phone’s battery more quickly, so you can turn off the media file download feature automatically when using your phone data and Wi-Fi network, so the videos and images sent In messages only when clicked, you can do it as follows:

• Go to the WhatsApp app on your phone.
• Click on the three dots icon in the top right of the screen, then click Settings.
• Click on the “Data and storage Usage” option.
• Under “Media Auto-Download” section.
• Click on the option (when using phone data), then deselect the checkbox next to all of the photos, audio files, videos and documents as you wish.

• Then do the same step in (when connected to Wi-Fi network), so that you will be able to stop downloading multimedia items automatically, and you can download them manually by pressing on them.

2- Adjust WhatsApp notifications:

If you use WhatsApp a lot throughout the day, there is no doubt that the notifications you receive throughout the day quickly drain your phone’s battery, so you must adjust notifications from within the application to receive important notifications only, and turn off the vibration feature when receiving notifications if they work, by following the steps next:
• Go to the WhatsApp app on your phone.
• Click on the three dots icon in the top right of the screen, then click Settings.
• Click on Notifications.
From here you can change the way you receive notifications for messages, groups, and calls by setting the sound of incoming and outgoing messages to (On) or (Off);

3- Activate the background with a dark color:

Dark mode is one of the main reasons for extending battery life, but it is not yet available in the official version of the application; however you can activate a chat background in black or gray, as reports indicate that black pixels consume much less power than other colors.
• Go to the WhatsApp app on your phone.
• Click on the three dots icon in the top right of the screen, then click Settings.
• Click on the “Chats” option.
• Click on Wallpaper, then click on Solid color, where you can choose black or gray.
