Until December 1 of this year, filmmakers, producers, film studios and university festival competition programs are invited to submit short and medium-length films of various genres made in 2019 or 2020. Also this year, the festival selection committee will select films that break the technical and artistic boundaries of cinema, as well as talk about current, provocative and often awkward topics locally and internationally. As every year, the short films selected at the festival will be evaluated by a professional international jury.
A particularly enticing prize this year will be presented to the winner of the Baltic Short Film Competition – rental of filming equipment and the opportunity to post-process films worth 2,000 euros – from the companies “BBRental” and “BBPostHouse”. Continuing to support the distribution of Baltic cinema, short films “2Annas” are accepted for the Baltic competition free of charge.

The creation of focus programs and events as a single theme has already become a tradition of the festival, therefore in parallel with the competition programs in 2021, the festival will also focus on the research of a particularly topical theme “Earth”.

“2Annas” is the leading short film festival in Latvia and one of the most important events of its kind in the Baltics. Every year, the creators of the festival offer an unprecedented cinematic experience in terms of both content and form, emphasizing the experimental nature of cinema and promoting new searches. The aim of the festival is to popularize the short film genre, to acquaint the audience with the most current European and world cinema, as well as to see the development and trends of Baltic film art in the world context. The short film festival is organized by the film studio “Urga”.
