Some 280 people still died in the space of a day in the US state of New York from the new coronavirus, Governor Andrew Cuomo said on Sunday, as quoted by the CNN news channel. Saturday, 299 had been identified.

This number of new deaths is “extremely worrying,” Cuomo said at a press conference. “You can see that the death rate has not changed dramatically over a relatively long period of time.”
At least 18,909 people have died from Covid-19 across this state, with New York City as the US epicenter of the epidemic.
On the other hand, the number of people placed on ventilators and the number of hospitalizations have decreased. For the first time since mid-March, less than 10,000 people (9,786) are in fact hospitalized due to the coronavirus, noted Mr. Cuomo. There were 789 new admissions in 24 hours.
