Participant at 27e Congress of the Universal Postal Union (Upu) which has been held since August 9, at the Sofitel Abidjan Hôtel Ivoire, Jil-Alexandre N’Dia, director general and co-founder of the media group Weblogy, publisher of the Abidjan.net portal, a hosted a press conference on Monday August 16. He spoke of the actions his company is taking to develop, digitize and make postal services more accessible to citizens, but also to contribute to the development of financial inclusion in Côte d’Ivoire.

Mr. N’Dia spoke in particular of the “Post of the future” project that the Post Office of Côte d’Ivoire is implementing in partnership with his group. “The ” Post of the future ” is an ambitious project in which we intend to support the Post of Côte d’Ivoire in everything that is subject to payment. The post offices will indeed be used for the promotion and popularization of prepaid Visa cards from all banks at appropriate and reduced costs intended for all citizens. Our objective is to contribute significantly to the development of banking inclusion in Côte d’Ivoire which is still weak, especially in rural areas, ”explained Jil-Alexandre N’Dia.

This project is interested in all social strata and fringes of the country since, argued Jil-Alexandre N’Dia, these populations do not always have access to these financial services. According to the partner of the Côte d’Ivoire Post Office, the project is currently in its pilot phase.

“We recently started the pilot phase of this project in Cocody. And things are going very well. After that, the project will be deployed throughout the national territory through the Côte d’Ivoire Post network, which is very extensive. The partnership with the Côte d’Ivoire Post Office is already in place and will come into full force at the end of the pilot phase, ”said Jil-Alexandre N’Dia.

This 27e The Upu Congress, which ends on August 27, aims to put in place a new postal strategy over the next four years by integrating the digital issue now more than ever. It should also lead to the renewal of all the governing bodies of the organization.
