261 people are hospitalized for coronavirus in the Canary Islands, 52 of them in ICU | BE Las Palmas

The patients who remain currently admitted to an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Canary Islands are about 52 people while those admitted to the ward are 209, according to the latest data published by the Ministry of Health.

Gran Canaria continues to be the island with the highest number of people in a hospital, with 186 people –37 in the ICU and 149 in the ward-; ahead of Tenerife, which has 55 –10 in the ICU and 45 in the plant -; Lanzarote with 11 – two in the ICU and 9 on the floor -; Fuerteventura with 8 –three in the ICU and five in the ward-; and La Gomera with one on the ground.

Regarding cities, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is the municipality with the most people hospitalized, with 164 –29 in ICU and 135 in ward-; followed by Santa Cruz de Tenerife, it has 29 -five in the ICU and 24 in the ward-; Reef with 10 -one in ICU and 9 in plant-; La Laguna with 9 – three in the ICU and six in the plant -; and Puerto del Rosario with 7 – three in the ICU and four in the ward.

Finally, the number of people who have lost their lives as a result of being infected with coronavirus now amounts to 202, of which 120 have taken place in Tenerife, 66 in Gran Canaria, 8 in Lanzatote, 6 in La Palma and 2 in Fuerteventura . Here, the most affected group is those over 80 years old with 99 deaths, followed by 70-79 years with 55 and 60-69 with 27 deaths.
