After the storm ravaged Lofoten, the storm hit Troms with full force on Wednesday night.
During Wednesday night has 2500households have been without electricity in Troms, writes NTB. The power outage affects Målselv, Salangen, Senja and Sørreisa in Indre and Midt-Troms.
On Wednesday, an orange warning was sent out for Vesterålen, and a warning of a full storm in Lofoten and parts of Troms – with gusts of between 35 and 40 meters per second.
Now the storm has started, says on-duty meteorologist at the Meteorological Institute, John Austrheim to VG on Wednesday afternoon.
First the storm hit Lofoten, where this afternoon measures have been taken to cope with the storm. Buses have been suspended, and bridges closed.
Svolvær airport has had to close due to power outages. All flights have been canceled, writes NTB.
Do not go out
Residents should stay indoors, the meteorologist advises:
– In the most affected areas, one should be careful about moving out. It can blow things through the air. One should also be careful with the sea – the waves are big.
At sea, strong storms lead to unusually high waves, where small and medium-sized ships can disappear for a time in the valley of the waves, writes Yr.no.
– The storm can quickly have consequences for transport, says Austrheim, and aims at, among other things, closed bridges.
