No relaxation in the corona numbers in Hamburg: According to the social authority, 246 new corona cases were registered on Wednesday. That is 9 more cases than on Wednesday a week ago and 85 more than on Tuesday.
In addition, further corona cases with mutated virus variants were found. The number of cases with the British variant detected in so-called sequencing has risen by 7 to a total of 18 since Tuesday, said the spokesman for the health authority, Martin Helfrich. Another case has been confirmed in the South African variant; there have been 3 cases there so far. The Brazilian virus mutant has not yet been detected in the Hanseatic city. All variants are considered more infectious than the original virus. According to Helfrich, the number of suspected cases has also increased significantly since Tuesday by 79 to 390.
Incidence value rises to 71.9
The number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days rose slightly to 71.9. On Wednesday a week ago, this value was still 68.1. In Hamburg’s hospitals, 311 corona patients are currently being treated, one more than the last stated. 88 of them are under intensive care.
Eleven more deaths
According to the authorities, a total of 50,931 people in the Hanseatic city have tested positive for the corona virus since the beginning of the pandemic. According to estimates by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), around 45,900 of these can now be regarded as recovered. According to the RKI, 1,235 people have died in connection with Covid 19 in the Hanseatic city since the beginning of the pandemic. This means that there have been eleven more deaths within one day.
