240 people oppose the loan by-law at L’Anse-Saint-Jean

The funding was to be used for the installation of sanitary facilities in connection with three residential projects. The realization of at least one of them depends on the construction of a sewage treatment plant.

The total bill for the project would be shared among all residents of L’Anse-Saint-Jean, but the amount that would be added to the municipal tax bills is not yet known.

A register was therefore open until 7 p.m. Thursday evening so that people could express their opposition and 240 people signed it.

The reaction of elected municipal officials was quick.

From these results obtained, we understand that many citizens wanted to have more information on the impacts that the said by-law will have. I also want to assure you that we take this desire into consideration and that the municipal council is sensitive to the opinion expressedwrote Mayor Richard Perron in a press release sent late Thursday morning.

The municipal council will meet soon to determine whether there will be a referendum or whether the draft loan by-law will be modified instead.
