24-year-old fell asleep with the engine running

ST. ULRICH / STEYR. With 1.78 per thousand alcohol in his blood, a 24-year-old from Steyr caused a traffic accident with property damage on Sunday night. The young driver drove on, and a little later fell asleep behind the wheel with the engine running.

The 24-year-old apparently caused a traffic accident while driving, as fresh damage was discovered on the car. As he drove on, the man was obviously overwhelmed by sleep and heavy alcoholism: he stopped the car on the Kiernberg road in the middle of the road and fell asleep with the engine running.

Police woke drivers

A resident became aware of the car and found the handlebars asleep behind the steering wheel. He switched off the engine, took the ignition key out of the ignition and then called the police. An alcohol test carried out gave a value of 1.78 per mille. The driving license was temporarily removed and the 24-year-old was driven home.
