2,346 PLN Customers Have Installed Roof PLTS, When Are You?

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – A total of 2,346 customers of PT PLN (Persero) have installed a Rooftop Solar Power Plant (PLTS) with a total installed capacity of 11.5 Mega Watt (MW) until Semester I 2020.

This was conveyed by the Director of Various New Energy and Renewable Energy, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Harris in a virtual discussion about PLTS, Wednesday (16/09/2020).

“As of June 2020, there are 2,346 customers who have installed PLTS Roof with a capacity of 11.5 MW,” he said.

He mentioned in detail several areas that installed the most PLTS Roofs, including Jakarta with 703 subscribers, West Java with 656 customers, Banten with 544 customers. Then followed by East Java with 191 customers, Central Java and DIY with 95 customers, Bali with 91 customers, and Aceh with 24 customers.

“The most distribution is in Jakarta, West Java, Banten, followed by East Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, Bali and Aceh. This is the progress that has been installed,” he said.

He said that the government has made several efforts in order to accelerate the development of Rooftop PLTS, including through the Roof PLTS program in government buildings and BUMN buildings, then the Roof PLTS program in commercial buildings. In addition, through the PLTS Roof program, the construction of new houses in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) and Real Estate Indonesia (REI).

Then, there is also a Rooftop PLTS installation program in customers’ homes with the R1 tariff group. Then there is also the PLTS Roof installation program for PLN customers for groups of more than 1,300 VA, given an attractive financing scheme incentive. In addition, he continued, there was a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Directorate General of EBTKE and the Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Real Estate Association. And finally, he added, there was a declaration of the national movement for one million solar roofs (GNSSA).

“When there are customers who want to make PLTS Roofs, they must make a request to PLN, then the documents will be verified by PLN to be forwarded. For example, they are appropriate, there are no problems, they can immediately (get) a development recommendation. If it is not complete, it must be completed,” he explained.

Harris said the renewable energy trends that are being implemented today are solar and wind energy. According to him, the cost of production for PLTS is currently getting cheaper, namely US $ 1.35 cents per kWh. In fact, when compared to fossil coal plants that are not subject to carbon costs, this Rooftop PLTS energy is still considered cheaper.

He further said, based on the National Mid-Term Development Plan (RPJMN), the cumulative addition of new renewable energy (EBT) capacity 2020-2024 reached 9,050 MW. Of the total capacity, the portion for solar power is charged at 2,089 MW.

“We are only 9.15% (EBT mix) of the 23% target (EBT mix in 2025), gap which is quite large and we have to pursue, one that we hope to give a big role is EBT in the form of solar energy, not only PLTS rooftop only, but in various potentials, for example in (PLTS) in ex-mining land, “he said.
