22 detainees staged a riot in the Sochi temporary detention center – they demanded that they not be sent to pre-trial detention center No. 2 in the city of Armavir before the New Year, Sochi media reported today, December 29.
According to information in TG channels, a riot happened in the temporary detention center of the Adler district of Sochi on December 28 at about 10:00. Before the New Year holidays, 47 suspects and accused were supposed to be sent to Armavir, 22 of them stated that they wanted to spend the holiday holidays in their hometown.
It is noted that the prisoners screamed, banged on the bars and resisted the detention center staff who tried to take them out of their cells. Riot police were called to the scene and it took them less than an hour to quell the riot.
As a result, 11 people have already been sent to the Armavir pre-trial detention center. The rest will go there in a special stage on December 30. There were no injuries among the employees. The prosecutor’s office is conducting an investigation into the incident.
