“22 Countries Joining TNI’s 17th Super Garuda Shield Joint Exercise in 2023”

TNI will again hold joint exercises at the 17th Super Garuda Shield in 2023. As many as 22 countries’ militaries are planned to take part in this grand event.

“The Indonesian National Army will hold the 17th Super Garuda Shield Joint Exercise in 2023, which is planned to be attended by 22 friendly countries,” said Asops Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces Major General Muhammad Nur Rahmad, quoted on Sunday (21/5/2023).

The number of participating countries has doubled compared to the previous year, which was only attended by 13 countries. However, Nur Achmad has not specified the list of countries that will be participating in the 2023 Super Garuda Shield.



Previously, on May 15-19 the Final Planning Conference (FPC) was held. FPC was attended by 317 personnel from various countries. Starting from Indonesia, the United States, France, the Philippines and Australia. Apart from that, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Papua New Guinea, Timor Leste, and the Netherlands participated.

“The aim is to discuss data and facts obtained from the results of field visits, discuss what things will be carried out, and refine and synchronize the Super Garuda Shield training scenario in 2023,” he said

At this FPC, each group discussed the details of the exercises including Staff Exercise, Multinational Force, Field Training Exercise, Combined Armed Live Fire Exercise, Hirain / C-Rain, Logistics and Protocol, Life Fire Exercise, Amphibious, Airborne, to Encap.

“I hope that the things that have been mutually agreed upon can be used as guidelines in organizing the training, use the available time to research and refine matters related to the training,” said Nur Achmad.

“Coordinate with the local government at both the district and provincial levels with relevant stakeholders or related ministries, relevant office institutions needed in order to secure the course of the exercise,” he added.
