A 21-year-old man died Thursday night at about 21.47 pm, in a collision between two light vehicles on the National Road 202, in the area of the Union of Parishes of Messegães, Valadares and Sá, in Monção.
Source of the GNR Territorial Command of Viana do Castelo, confirms the death. The victim was a native of Melgaço.
According to José Codesseira, Commander of the Melgaço Fire Department, the victim had to be released, entered a cardiopulmonary arrest and was transported in continuous resuscitation maneuvers by the Valença SIV to the Basic Emergency Service (SUB) of the Monção Health Center.
The young man drove and traveled alone in one of the vehicles. The accident also resulted in a slight injury, driver of the other car involved in the violent accident. The 47-year-old man, getting out of the car by his own foot, “was walking around and was reported to have been slightly injured.” The EN202 was completely closed to traffic for about 45 minutes. One of the lanes was reopened towards Melgaço-Monção at 22.50 hours.
According to the source of the Viana do Castelo District Relief Operations Command (CDOS), 19 were operating with eight vehicles from the Melgaço and Monção and GNR corporations.
