Yankees stop trading with Sonny Gray with Reds

This could be the end of Sonny Gray's New York adventure.

The Yankees and the Reds are about to sign a deal that would send the ailing starter to Cincinnati. according to a tweet by Jon Heyman,

Final trade details were not eliminated, but the Yankees received an infield perspective on Shed Long, a draft pick and possibly a third piece.

Brian Cashman, General Manager of Yankees, made it clear from the beginning of the offseason he wanted to trade with Gray that the market was slow to develop.

After the surprise cardiac surgery of CC Sabathia, it was believed that the Yankees would hold on to the rotation insurance against Gray, but Cashman was determined to unload the disappointing starter who ended in the bullpen last season and was completely eliminated from the playoff squad.

Gray joined the Bronx in a 2017 trade-deadline deal with The A, setting a record of 15-16 with an ERA of 4.51 in 41 appearances (34 starts) for the Yankees.
