Sabena Group takes over the reins of New EAS, 63 jobs at risk

The court's decision fell Thursday at 6:30 pm. After refusing earlier in the day the continuation plan of the current owner of the aircraft maintenance company, the judges accepted the takeover bid for the company. Sabena.

The hearing started on Thursday at 10 am The commercial court had to hear, after hearing the main protagonists of the case, decide on the fate of the aeronautical maintenance company Perivil New EAS, placed in receivership last October.

Contingency plan rejected

Finally, the request for a continuation plan filed by the current company manager, Bruno Léchevin, was rejected early in the afternoon.

The court examined the offers of recovery in the process. The company Sky HD consulting, which was preferred by employees, withdrew at the last moment. Only three companies pleaded their project at the helm. The court finally accepted the offer of Sabena Technics at 6:30 pm.

Social conflict in the background

Problem: Employees overwhelmingly reject this option. Sabena wants to keep only 165 jobs out of 228. A hundred EAS employees have gathered this Thursday afternoon in front of the court, Boulevard des Pyrénées. Slogans hostile to Sabena, smoke and firecrackers were de rigueur. A dozen CRS were positioned inside the court to prevent overflow.

Sabena will take possession of EAS as early as Friday morning. But the employees do not intend to let go and do not exclude to go on strike.
