Leon Goretzka scored twice when Bayern beat Hoffenheim in the winter break and reduced Borussia Dortmund's lead to three points.

The German midfielder gave Bayern a 35th-minute lead when he converted the rebound from Robert Lewandowski's substitute header.

The 23-year-old made it 2-0 with a low finish just before the break.

Nico Schulz shot in to reduce the deficit before Lewandowski came too late to seal the points for the champion.

A moment earlier Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer had made an excellent goal to hold off a header from Hoffenheim striker Adam Szalai.

Dortmund can secure a lead of six points when they beat fourth place on Saturday by RB Leipzig,
