CHICAGO - The Chicago Cubs and the St. Louis Cardinals will not be seen until the beginning of May, but the heat has already increased in one of baseball's best rivalries.
The third baseman of the Cubs, Kris Bryant called St. Louis 'boring' during a comic moment at the team's annual fan convention this weekend. When he heard the comment, Cardinals star receiver Yadier Molina responded by saying that "only stupid and losing players" make fun of other cities.
Bryant was being interviewed on stage by former pitcher Ryan Dempster on Friday night when the two joked about playing for the Cardinals.
"Who would want to play in San Luis?" Bryant asked. "Bored, so boring, they always ask me: 'Where would you like to play? Where would you not like to play?' San Luis is on the list of places I do not like to play. "
Dempster went ahead, adding that at one point in his career there was a possibility that he would be moved to San Luis.
"I'm like, 'Zero possibility in hell,'" Dempster said. "No way, I will not even go there as a free agent, it will not happen."
The teams will face each other for the first time next season from May 3 to 5 in Chicago. Bryant and the Cubs do not make their first appearance in St. Louis until May 31.
