Brooklyn Nets striker / center Kenneth Faried has approved a contract buyout that clears the way for him to sign a deal with the Houston Rockets, sources in the league told ESPN.
The center of Rocket's Clint Capela, who tore a thumb band in his right thumb on Sunday, is expected to miss four to six weeks after the surgery, GM Daryl Morey said Thursday.
For the NBA All-Star Game are still five days for fan voting, and for now remain Kevin Durant of Warriors and James Harden of Rockets outside the Western Conference.
The Rockets plan to instantly install Faried in the lineup to replace much of the defenses lost to the launch center Clint Capela, which is expected to be on the right thumb several weeks after surgery.
Faried is released on Saturday, the sources said. His salary of $ 13.7 million is expected to be canceled on Monday.
The Rockets are aggressively working to find a trade for the exiled Carmelo Anthony before leaving on Monday at 5pm. ET deadline to clear a site for Faried, sources from the league said. The rockets must exchange a player for a team with an open ranking or renounce a player before signing Faried. It is possible for Houston to sign Farie to find a way out of the squad, but he has to bring him to the exhausted front of the team on Monday night against the 76ers.
Brooklyn acquired Faried in the offseason, but he had difficulty finding a role in the younger core of the nets. He was a starter for most of his seven seasons with Denver, averaging 11.3 points and 8.1 rebounds.
Faried has been a stubborn rebounder and defender in his career, and he will share the minutes with Nene Hilario until Capela returns.
