An American student was detained for six months after biting a passenger in a drunken rage on a British Airways flight and forcing the plane to be rerouted.
Jeffrey Libby, 21, became "aggressive and abusive" after drinking a bottle of Barcadi rum he had brought on board the flight from Heathrow to Dallas.
As flight crews tried to calm him down, he charged two passengers and a crew member, "scratched and hit and even bite a finger in the finger," said the Metropolitan Police.

The staff detained Libby, and the captain turned the plane only an hour after quitting "for the safety of the crew and passengers on board," the troop added.
Libby, of Forth Worth, Texas, was arrested when the plane arrived at Heathrow on December 17 last year.
The Crown Court of Isleworth had heard that he started drinking after being thrown over his girlfriend by text as he waited to board the plane. After the flight began, he stepped on the seat in front of him and stepped on him.
Libby pleaded guilty to three cases of violent attacks, one of being drunk aboard an airplane and one using threatening, abusive, or insulting words to the cabin crew.
He was arrested on Wednesday, fined £ 100, and charged £ 415.

Detective Inspector Matt East of the Met's Aviation Commission said, "Libby's behavior was extremely ruthless and endangered the safety of passengers and crew on board.
"Not only that, but his actions caused considerable disruption and inconvenience for everyone on board, and the airline had to re-arrange flights for the 191 other passengers.
"Drunk, abusive and violent behavior aboard a flight is totally unacceptable, and anyone who behaves in this way should know that it is not tolerated by the crew and can be assumed to be arrested, brought to justice and could be behind schedule for several months. "
